Then click on “About Google Chrome.” Chrome will automatically check for updates. If an update is available, it will download and install. Here, we can see that the app is up-to-date.

2. Clear Chrome’s Cache and Cookies

On the Settings page, scroll down to “Privacy and security,” then click “Delete browsing data.”

In the pop-up window, select “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files” and click “Delete data.”

3. Reset Chrome to Default Settings

Click the three dots in the upper-right corner and go to Settings. Scroll to the bottom and click “Reset settings,” and select “Restore settings to their original defaults.”

Confirm by clicking “Reset settings” in the pop-up.

4. Disable All Chrome Extensions

Click the three vertical dots and go to ‘Extensions.” You’ll see all installed extensions.

Click on “Manage extensions.”

Toggle off each extension one by one by clicking the blue switch. After disabling each extension, check if the theme fills the screen. This helps you identify if a specific extension is causing the issue.

5. Uninstall and Reinstall the Theme

Go to “chrome://settings/appearance” in the Chrome address bar. Under “Theme,” click “Reset to default” to remove the current theme.

Then, go to the Chrome Web Store by clicking the arrow.

Browse for your theme and click on it.

Select “Add to Chrome” to reinstall it.

6. Apply a Different Theme from the Chrome Web Store

Visit the Chrome Web Store and click on the “Themes” section. Browse for a different theme and click on it.

Click “Add to Chrome.” Once installed, check if this new theme fills the screen correctly. If it does, the original theme may have been faulty.

Here we can see that the theme fills the screen entirely.

7. Reset Chrome Zoom to Default

Themes may not fill the screen properly if you’ve zoomed out in Chrome, as you can see below.

To fix this, press Ctrl + 0 (Windows) or Cmd + 0 (Mac) on your keyboard to reset the zoom level instantly.
